R and Weka and Arff

Some handy little R code if you are wanting to convert a csv to arff, but may be running into some encoding issues (looking at you crowdflower corportate messaging dataset).

Simple and to the point.
Subsetted to remove the "Exclude" category and reset the factor (so Weka won't see it as an empty set).

Hope it helps!

Project for school: Searching for cy: A Study in SEO

If You Want to Learn, All You Have to do is say so.

Welcome to the inaugural page for 36th Chamber - Lessons from a data nerd.

Let me clear something up straight away - I'm not really a huge kungfu aficionado. So if you've come here looking for that, sorry to disappoint. But a professor suggested I watch The 36th Chamber of Shaolin and really it's about so much more than kung-fu. This blog will serve a jumping point for one of the main concepts of the legendary 1978 movie: to teach others what you have learned.

I really like the metaphor, so you are stuck with it for now. Along with other important lessons that are inherent to the movie.

And to steal a quote (probably loosely translated) from the movie "if you want to learn, all you have to do is say so."
